Privacy Policy

Your data, explained without the jargon.

This page is maintained by the JobOrbit team to explain what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to be readable — not to hide behind legalese.

At a glance

JobOrbit is a worldwide job platform. We collect the information we need to run the service (accounts, applications, search preferences), to keep it safe (security logs and abuse prevention), and to pay the bills (advertising and analytics measurement). We do not sell your personal information.

  • You can use most of JobOrbit without creating an account.
  • When you apply for a job, your application is shared with the employer you applied to — that is the point of applying.
  • You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@joborbit.com.

Note. This page is app-owner editable content. It reflects our current practices and is not a certification issued by any third party.

02

Who we are

"JobOrbit", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of joborbit.example. If you would like our registered business address for a formal request, email legal@joborbit.com and we will provide it.

We are the data controller for personal information collected through the website and our newsletters. For applications submitted to an employer, both JobOrbit and the employer act as independent controllers of their own copy of your data.

03

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

  • Information you give us. Account details (name, email, password), profile details (CV, work history, preferences), applications you submit, messages you send us, and newsletter sign-ups.
  • Information collected automatically. Device and browser type, IP address (used mainly to detect fraud and localise content), pages viewed, referring site, approximate location derived from IP, and interactions with our search filters.
  • Information from partners. If you sign in through a third-party login, we receive the basic profile fields you authorise. If an employer imports your application from another source, they are responsible for the lawful basis for that transfer.
04

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and secure your account and log you in.
  • Show you jobs, guides and country pages that match your preferences.
  • Deliver applications to employers you choose to apply to.
  • Send transactional messages (application receipts, password resets).
  • Send optional newsletters and job alerts, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • Measure how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, scraping and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
06

Cookies & similar technologies

JobOrbit uses first-party cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences, and analytics cookies to understand which pages help our audience. Advertising partners on JobOrbit may set their own cookies to measure ad performance and, where you have consented, to personalise ads.

You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or through the controls in our Cookie Policy. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies at any time.

07

Advertising partners

JobOrbit displays advertising to help keep the platform free for job seekers. We work with reputable advertising partners who may collect information about your visits to this and other websites to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.

Our advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to measure the performance of the ads shown, and where you have given consent, to serve personalised advertising. These partners are contractually required to handle your data in line with applicable data protection law.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through your device or browser settings, or through industry opt-out tools such as youronlinechoices.com (EU) and optout.aboutads.info (US).

08

How we share information

We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • With employers you apply to. Your application, CV and profile are shared with the employer for that job. They handle it as an independent controller.
  • With service providers. Hosting, email delivery, analytics, fraud prevention and customer support tools acting under contract on our instructions.
  • With advertising and measurement partners as described above.
  • For legal reasons. Where required by law, court order or to protect rights, property or safety.
  • In a business transfer. If JobOrbit is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your data may transfer — you will be notified in advance.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

09

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as required by law. In practice:

  • Account data — while your account is active, plus up to 24 months after closure.
  • Application history — up to 24 months, so you can re-use or track past applications.
  • Support tickets — 24 months for training and audit.
  • Analytics — aggregated after 14 months.
  • Legal or tax records — as long as required by law.

You can ask us to delete your data sooner where the law allows.

10

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Object to certain processing, or ask us to restrict it.
  • Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent for anything you previously consented to.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — but we would appreciate the chance to help first.

To exercise any right, email privacy@joborbit.com. We reply within statutory timeframes (typically 30 days).

11

Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal information — including encryption in transit, restricted internal access, and regular reviews of the systems that store your data. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take our responsibility seriously and investigate every reported issue.

To report a suspected vulnerability, please email security@joborbit.com.

12

Children's privacy

JobOrbit is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13

International transfers

JobOrbit serves users in 190+ countries, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

14

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the product changes or when the law requires it. Material changes are announced by email and on the site at least 14 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
