Why this Bilingual Customer Support Specialist (English / Spanish) role exists

Polaris Support Co. is a Customer Service & Support company of 2,800 people, founded in 2012 and headquartered in Manila, Philippines. Polaris runs bilingual support desks for roughly 60 SaaS and fintech clients out of Manila, Cebu and Lisbon. The business grew out of a single English-Spanish team and now covers eleven languages, with an internal quality framework that ties agent progression to CSAT and first-contact resolution rather than raw volume. For this particular opening, the work is done from Manila — full-time, remote — and reports into the customer service & support side of the business.

The useful question is not what the bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) title means in general, but what Polaris Support Co. needs it to mean this year. The emphasis on 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product and on handle 40-60 bilingual conversations per shift across chat and email is the answer. At mid level level you will be accountable for outcomes across several people or teams, with real influence on roadmap and hiring.

Employers in customer service & support are hiring for depth over breadth, and Manila is one of the markets where that demand is concentrated. Manila sits inside that picture: Beyond BPO, healthcare and maritime professionals from the Philippines are recruited worldwide, usually with structured deployment and documentation support.

A week as a Bilingual Customer Support Specialist (English / Spanish) at Polaris Support Co.

This bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) position is remote, so most coordination happens in writing. Expect asynchronous updates, recorded decisions and a small number of protected live meetings rather than a calendar full of them.

Most of the week goes on handle 40-60 bilingual conversations per shift across chat and email, with fully fluent written English and Spanish (C1 or higher) work threaded through it. The part nobody advertises is upkeep — the fixes, follow-ups and small corrections that stop last quarter's work from quietly rotting. In a 2,800-person customer service & support company that upkeep lands on the person closest to the work, which here is you.

Your first ninety days are diagnosis, not delivery. From there you are measured on the performance of everything under you, not your personal output. Write down what you expect the first year to contain and compare it to their answer in the final interview; the gap is worth discussing before you sign.

What ₱720,000 – ₱960,000 really means here

The advertised range is ₱720,000 – ₱960,000, a spread of roughly 33% between floor and ceiling, with a midpoint near PHP 840,000. In most structured pay systems the midpoint represents someone fully performing the role, the floor someone growing into it, and the ceiling a candidate who arrives with directly transferable, hard-to-hire experience — in this case, depth in 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product.

Philippines averages ₱780,000 across advertised roles. For a mid level-level bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) in customer service & support, the relevant comparison is narrower: two or three live listings in Manila for the same work. Pull them before any salary conversation so you are arguing from data, not from hope.

Negotiate against the band, not against Polaris Support Co.. "What would someone at the top of this band be doing that I am not yet doing?" is a stronger opening than a number, and for a bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) post it often produces a written development plan alongside the offer.

Beyond base pay, always confirm

  • Bonus or commission structure, and whether it is discretionary or formulaic
  • Pension or retirement contribution and the employer match under Philippines rules
  • Health cover, including dependants
  • Paid leave, public holidays and any carry-over policy
  • Equity, if offered — the vesting schedule matters more than the headline value
  • Equipment, home-office allowance and which country your payroll actually sits in

Who gets hired as a Bilingual Customer Support Specialist (English / Spanish)

Assume every other shortlisted candidate matches the 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product requirement too. Your advantage has to be a hiring and development record: who you brought in and where they are now — specific, dated and checkable.

Applications that describe duties instead of results rarely reach a second reader. Open with the single result that most resembles what this role needs.

One tailored application to this bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) post beats twenty generic ones. Mirror the language of the responsibilities section, reference Polaris Support Co. by what it actually does, and cut anything that could have been sent to another employer unchanged.

Preparing for the Polaris Support Co. interviews

Build a small bank of stories before the first call: one about 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product under pressure, one about a disagreement you handled well, one about something you got wrong. Almost every question in a bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) process is a variation on those three.

Research Polaris Support Co. specifically. Career pathing is unusually explicit — every agent has a documented next step and a coach who owns their development. Shifts are published a month in advance and swap requests are handled through the roster tool rather than personal messages. Referencing how a company actually operates, rather than reciting its marketing copy, is one of the clearest signals that a bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) application is genuine.

Questions worth preparing for

  • Why this Bilingual Customer Support Specialist (English / Spanish) role at Polaris Support Co., and why now?
  • Walk me through your experience with 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product.
  • Tell me about a time handle 40-60 bilingual conversations per shift across chat and email went wrong. What did you change?
  • Tell me about a decision you got wrong and what you do differently now.
  • How do you decide what not to do in a given week?
  • What would your first ninety days in Manila look like?

Working for Polaris Support Co. across borders

Remote does not mean location-irrelevant. Employment law, tax residency and payroll follow where you physically sit, and for a role advertised out of Manila, those details are settled before the contract is signed rather than after.

Citizens need no visa. Overseas placements are regulated by the DMW — always confirm an agency's licence before signing anything.

For this specific listing: Local hire on a Philippine contract; night differential, HMO from day one and home internet allowance included.

Confirm the time-zone overlap expected, who pays for equipment and desk space, and whether the contract is a local employment contract or an employer-of-record arrangement. Those three answers change the offer more than the headline number does. None of this is awkward to ask; recruiters filling a bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) post expect these questions from serious candidates.

Where a Bilingual Customer Support Specialist (English / Spanish) role leads next

A mid level-level bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) in customer service & support typically has two credible paths after two to four years: deeper specialisation, where 3+ years in customer support for a SaaS or fintech product becomes the thing the organisation relies on you for, or breadth, where you take on scope across more people and more surface area.

Neither is objectively better, but they reward different things. Ask how the last two people in this bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) post progressed — the answer, and whether there is one, tells you a great deal about how Polaris Support Co. is run.

Polaris Support Co. operates in Manila, Cebu, Lisbon, Remote (APAC & EMEA), which matters for a bilingual customer support specialist (english / spanish) if internal mobility or a future move out of Manila is part of your plan. Multi-site employers also give you a second internal market when the customer service & support job market outside slows down.
